FAQ

Straight answers about pricing, booking, and how we keep the number on your invoice the same one we quoted at the walkthrough.

Russell writes every one of these himself the same day you send it — no call-center rep relaying your Portland move details secondhand.

Below are the questions we hear most from Portland-area customers before they book. If your question isn’t covered here, call (503) 419-7268 and Denise or a crew chief will walk you through it directly.

Are you an actual moving company, or do you just connect me with a mover?
We're a licensed, insured moving company with our own eight trucks and twelve-person crew. We show up, pack, and drive — nobody else's truck ever touches your move.
What areas do you serve?
Portland and the metro suburbs — Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Tualatin, Oregon City, and West Linn — plus long-distance routes up and down the West Coast and into the Mountain West.
How much does a local move cost?
Hourly rates start at $109/hr for a 2-mover crew, $145/hr for three, and $179/hr for four, with $36/hr for each additional mover. Larger households often move on a flat rate of $1,850 to $2,500 instead.
What does 'the number doesn't move' mean?
A crew chief walks your home before moving day and prices exactly what's there — stairs, a long carry, a piano. That figure is what's on your final invoice, with nothing added afterward.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We carry Oregon household goods authority and the required federal operating numbers on file, and we're fully insured for the moves we run.
How do I book a move?
Call (503) 419-7268 or fill out the quote form, and we'll schedule an in-person walkthrough. A $125 deposit holds your date once you've got a number you're happy with.
Do you offer storage if my dates don't line up?
Yes — short-term storage runs $85/month for a studio or 1BR, $139/month for 2-3BR, and $199/month for a 4BR-plus household.
Can you move a piano or a gun safe?
Yes. Uprights run $235 and grand pianos $375; gun safes run $185 to $310 depending on size and access.

What A Affordable Movers Does Differently Than Most Portland Movers

Oregon-Licensed, Ready For The State Line Too

We hold our own OR household-goods authority, and our US DOT and MC numbers are already on file for anything that crosses state lines — a same-day job inside Portland or a run up toward Seattle or down toward Sacramento, the paperwork’s done before the truck backs out of the yard.

Every Move Insured Before The First Box Goes On

Basic released-value coverage rides free on every job, and Russell can add full replacement value on the walkthrough if you want the higher payout ceiling locked in before move day That’s the whole conversation — we don’t tack on a coverage upsell once your things are already on the truck.

The Price Doesn’t Move Once We’ve Shaken Hands

A long carry, a flight of stairs, a piece that needs extra padding — if it turns up during the walkthrough, it’s priced in before we agree on a day. No add-on invoice two days later for something we should’ve caught the first time; the figure you sign at the door is the figure you pay.

Our Own Trucks, Our Own Crew, No Subcontractors

Eight trucks and twelve people, every one of them on our own payroll — nobody hands your move off to a rented truck and a stranger. By late fall the crew’s already doubling up moving blankets and running shrink wrap against the Willamette Valley rain, with the truck ramp tarped before a single box goes up it.

One Number. No Surprises. No Middleman.

You’re talking to the person who actually owns the trucks. Russell built this company on one rule: the number he gives you at the walkthrough is the number you sign for — no fuel surcharge, no stairs fee, no surprise tacked on after the fact.
